Sometimes, we see cases where there is a function inside of another function. In order to take the derivative of this kind of equation, we need to use the chain rule. The derivative of f(g(x)) is the derivative of the outside function, with all x’s replaced by the inside function, multiplied by the derivative of the inside function.
